Earlier today, Ian made himself Patriarch of the Weeb Clan, a Desert Bus Family Subsidiary.

In light of this, he has decided that for his art challenge, he would like a Desert Bus Family Mon (in black & white).

Send your creations as a JPG or PNG to [email protected] with the subject line “Desert Bus Family“ until 7:15PM PST!

Be sure to include the name you’d like to go by should we show your submission on air. The winner of this challenge will get a Desert Bus for Hope 2018 t-shirt!

Alex Steacy & Ian Horner

Driving: Tuesday, Nov 15 10pm – Wednesday, Nov 16 10am

Alex Steacy

Driving since: 2012
Points: 5
Crashes: 0

Alex is composed of a lightweight magnesium chassis driven by linear actuators and is protected by 22mm of chobham armor. At least he would be if that design wasn’t scrapped in favour of tin and rubber bands.

It’s Desert Bus’ 10th year:

His first memory of Desert Bus:
Trying to play along from Toronto during Desert Bus 2. We didn’t score a point.

Ian Horner

Driving since: 2013
Points: 4
Crashes: 4

In 2010 Ian stepped onto the Desert Bus and found himself trapped in the bus, driven by an unknown force to change history for the better. Ian continues driving, striving to put right what once went wrong and hoping each time that his next shift will be the drive home.

It’s Desert Bus’ 10th year:

His first memory of Desert Bus:
Remixing a version of “Re: Your Brains” from source material and Graham performing as Billy Mays.

Ian Horner

Ian Horner

Driving since: 2013

Points: 2

Crashes: 1

When not at Desert Bus, he can be found:
Having just moved to Victoria, Ian enjoys unpacking in between doing graphic design, layout, and helping out LoadingReadyRun.

Special Skills:
Improv, playing the bass and kazoo, and inhabiting the empty bony remains of Skeletor.

He’s a total geek for:
Japan and Japanse Pop Culture. While anime is for dumbs, I’m a big fan of Lupin the Third and the UC Gundam series.

Claim to Fame:
I brew a pretty mean chilli stout.

Biggest fear about driving for DB8:
My biggest fear is that one of the oil sheiks of Qatar discovers Desert Bus, finds us entertaining, and decides to fund us into driving through to 2015.

If he was reincarnated as a fruit or vegetable he would want to be:
Daikon Radish. I’m big, white, and most people in the supermarket don’t know what to do with me.

Favourite Cheese:
Brie. ‘Nuff Said.

Doesn’t want you to know he listens to:
Polling Rank Of ’96 Japan Animation Theme Song

His “moves like Jagger” are more like:
Someone left the oven door open and the gas on high

To prepare for driving the bus he is:
Ingesting massive quantities of the spice “Melange” in order to become the Kwisatz Haderach and drive the Desert Bus like Shai-Hulud to glory!

What symbol does your superhero cape have on it?

Johnny Blakeborough

My full time job is supporting faculty, staff and students using technology at Vancouver Island University.

He’s a total geek for:
Films, technology, comics and board games.

Claim to Fame:
I run the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival, now in its 10th year, it is the longest running and best attended short film festival on Vancouver Island.

Biggest fear about driving for DB8:
That I will crash and not have a great excuse like “William Shatner was talking to me while i was trying to drive” like I had in DB 6.

If he was reincarnated as a fruit or vegetable he would want to be:
Rutabaga, why wouldn’t you want to be a rutabaga?

Favourite Cheese:
Pepper Jack

Doesn’t want you to know he listens to:
Taylor Swift

His “moves like Jagger” are more like:
your annoying cousin trying to break dance at the wedding

To prepare for driving the bus he is:
stress test my headphones

What symbol does your superhero cape have on it?
a dance break button
