I think we’re on to something here!

Around the beginning of her turn in the driver’s seat, Kathleen issued a challenge to draw her lovely felines, and gave everyone the entire remainder of her shift. The result was some sensational production from all of you!

TahkiTahki was our winner with this exceptional piece!

Here we have 2nd and 3rd place, courtesy of Rose Nightshade and Trudi Castle!

Some lovely honourable mentions, and the rest of the submissions below the cut!

ashton_lgAshton Cummings

Driving: Monday, Nov 17 10pm – Tuesday, Nov 18 10am

Driving since: 2012
Points: 1
Crashes: 1

Editors Note: Ashton is incredibly busy and did not fill out his profile information. So we had other people, who happened to be around the Lunar Module answer for him.

When not at Desert Bus, he can be found:
The bowels of engineering – Dix

Special Skills:
Ashton is as comfortable behind an ASCII keyboard as he is behind the wheel of the Desert Bus. Thankfully, his code crashes much less than his bus does. While not its biological father, he participates in the DB Chat in a combination Paternal/Management role, imparting all to “Work with Daddy”. At any rate, he can nod down any epic sax guy video, ten hours or more. – Ian

He’s a total geek for:
18th century Russian Faberge eggs – Thomas

Claim to Fame:
Travelled back in time and wrote “Baby Got Back” and he’s been trying to get it back ever since. He can also convincingly fake being South African. – Jordan

Biggest fear about Driving for DB8:
The Dark – Beej

If he was reincarnated as a fruit or vegetable he would want to be:
Durian – Alex

Favourite Cheese:
Head cheese – Johnny

Doesn’t want you to know he listens to:
Math Rap – Pika

His “moves like Jagger” are more like:
coding skills like Bill Gates – Mia

To prepare for driving the bus he is:
He is eating a bus load of pizza. – Simon

What symbol does your superhero cape have on it?
An “A” made of lightning bolts. – Kelly

The Ken “Value Added” Steacy Effect

So, Ken Steacy came in and did his Ken Steacy thing. If you don’t know what that means, well, it goes like this: Ken Steacy, father to LRR stalwart Alex Steacy, is a longtime supporter of Desert Bus For Hope, and each year comes in with a caravan of treasures from his storied career in art and illustration. We auction them all off, and when the dust settles, somehow  that number in the top-left corner of the screen has increased by a cool 40,000 or so.

Yes, that number up there

Huge thanks again to Ken Steacy for helping us once again!

kensteacypublishing Guess whose back? That’s right Ken “Value Added” Steacy from Ken Steacy Publishing, of course, .

For those of you new to Desert Bus Ken Steacy has been supporting us for practically forever. He is a member of the Canadian Comic Book Creator’s Hall of Fame, won a Shuster Award, and is Alex’s dad!

In fact, his nickname of “Value Added” came about because of all the wonderful contributions and time he has spent with us, and for the children on Desert Bus. Every year with Ken has been full of surprises and delight and we’re sure this year will be no different.

So after we ROCKED our way to 2 Million Lifetime this morning, we started to get a tad bit silly.

This….this was terrifying to behold. The anglerfish is unbelievably well crafted, but is a scare at 10 AM!

thedoubleclicksThe Doubleclicks will be calling into Desert Bus at 3pm PST on Monday, November 17th.

Angela and Aubrey Webber are sisters who started their Youtube channel in 2011 with a song-a-week project that went on for 6 months. Since then the duo has continued releasing songs on Youtube and CD with songs such as “Nothing to Prove“, “Cats and Netflix“, and “Love You Like A Burrito“.

Just before the Doubleclicks were guests on the show TableTop in Feb 2014, they challenged themselves to write a song about TableTop in which they named all the games that had been played up until that point. They also wrote and performed a song for a LoadingReadyRun video called “Four PS4s“.

Angela plays the guitar, ukulele, and keyboard cat. Aubrey plays the cello. Known for writing songs that emphasize geeky topics they are found performing at conventions, events such as W00tstock, comic shops, game stores, and online.

In 2014 they ran a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their latest album, Dimetrodon and 5 weeks of weekly songs. The campaign was funded by more than 4 times what they asked for. This overfunding unlocked additional weeks of weekly songs, the ability for them to purchase new video gear and gave Aubrey the chance to quit her day job so she could work on music full time!
