We here at Desert Bus are delighted to welcome back the one and only Ken Steacy!
Ken has been gracing us with his presence since Desert Bus 3 and every year he brings with him a treasure trove of original art, collectable prints, and all sorts of one-of-a-kind goodies that we get to auction off to you fine folks at home!

PLEASE NOTE: At the request of Ken Steacy, and with the permission of Child’s Play, 50% of the donations for Ken’s items will go to the Desert Bus organizing team, in recognition of their efforts in putting on this event. The other 50% will go to Child’s Play. More information is available here.

We’re delighted to welcome back Ken “Value Added” Steacy, from Ken Steacy Publishing, to Desert Bus 2017.
If you’re new to Desert Bus, Ken Steacy has been supporting us for practically forever. He is a member of the Canadian Comic Book Creator’s Hall of Fame, won a Shuster Award, and is Alex’s dad!
His nickname of “Value Added” came about because of all the wonderful contributions and time he has spent with us, and for the children on Desert Bus. Every year with Ken has been full of surprises and delight and we’re sure this year will be no different.
We thank Ken Steacy Publishing for their continued support of Desert Bus for Hope. Join us as he auctions off his wonderful art pieces this year on Nov. 20th at 7pm (PST).

The Ken Steacy Power Hour may have ended last night but the goodies from Ken keep coming.
This graphic novel compilation of Ken and Harlan’s stories set against the backdrop of a vast interstellar war was just re-issued last year by Dover books. This lot includes a signed copy of that edition and one of the original 1987 trade edition published by Comico!

We have a little bit of time on this one so I thought I’d give you the lowdown!

Ken “Value Added” Steacy will be joining us at the Lunar Module Mk. 3 on Monday, November 14th at 6:00pm.
Known around Desert Bus as Ken “Value Added” Steacy thanks to his legacy of creating some of the most exciting live auctions we’ve seen, Ken decided at age eleven to become a professional comic book writer/artist, a dream he realized in 1974. Since then, he has chronicled the exploits of Spider-Man, Harry Potter, and the Star Wars gang, to name but a few. In addition to creating his own intellectual property, he has collaborated with Harlan Ellison, Dean Motter, and Douglas Coupland. The recipient of an Eisner and an Inkpot award, Ken was inducted into the Joe Shuster Awards Hall of Fame in 2009, a lifetime achievement award honouring Canadian comic book creators for their contributions to the industry. Alongside his wonderful wife, graphic novelist Joan Steacy, Ken is currently teaching Comics & Graphic Novels in a program they created at Camosun College here in Victoria.

Ken is presented with the Valued Addition Award, in recognition of his contributions to the Desert Bus community over the years.
Ken “Value Added” Steacy’s last live auction wrapped up just a little while ago, and with that we have the final tally from this year’s visit. Over the course of this evening’s live auctions and giveaways, the community raised $41,304.87!

Keeping the Steacy train rolling we have the Air & Space Smithsonian Archival Video disk set. We will run this as a Donation Drive for donations of $6.00 or multiples thereof for the next half hour. 8:50 PM PST is our end time on this one!
Ken’s just plane crazy about things with wings! This set includes 6 disks, each containing 100,000 images of aviation and space development all the way from the Wright brothers through the late 80’s. It also includes catalogues for quick reference.
