For their awesome entry they won the Geek Chic Huntsman Knife.
Thanks to everyone else who put so much effort into their submissions… except James… boooo James.
We auctioned off our very own Ash’s Megacynics package, though Kathleen jumped the gun a little. We also gave away Heather’s (Beej’s wife) blanket and pillow for $19.88 per entry. That was the donation which pushed us into $1.5 MILLION in lifetime donations. OH MY BUS.
The fun didn’t end there! I did some juggling, Graham and Cam recited Shakespeare while speech jamming, and then we had an excellent Late Nite Dub Fight. Alex and Takahata had a few Speech Jamming arguments and we played an awesome game of Werewolf.
Someone sent us this…HORRIFYING thing called a…Spoopy. I think. It freaked us all out RIDICULOUSLY:
Even better, I realized my dream of becoming my very own NOPE.gif. Because this was a completely involuntary NOPE.
THEN POGS HAPPENED AND IT WAS GLORIOUS. Beej reinacted Epic Sax Guy and played guitar for us, we had a fantastic live auction for a Doctor Who scarf, and just generally had a great time. Now I’m going to bed. See you all tomorrow night!
Let’s take a moment to thank some more of the writers across the interwebs that have shown a light on what we’re doing here at Desert Bus!
Scott Shackford over at Reason.com wrote a fantastic article about what we are and what we’ve done. He touches on the history of the Desert Bus game itself, recounts the history of Desert Bus for Hope as a charity, and then posits on the nature of video game marathon charities. It’s worth a look.
A fantastic francophone article was posted over at PCWorld.fr! In the article, Jean-Kleber Lauret offers the following kind words (forgive my imperfect translation):
“Today is a great story we can relate to. Full of humanism and generosity, [Desert Bus] proves how far people are willing to go to do good.”
And finally, John Erik Tøvik over at the videogame blog Wulfspace gave us a little shout out while warning readers that he was taking a hiatus for Desert Bus! Thanks, John!
Thanks for the support! We really appreciate it! Now back to bussing!
The winner is: BadgerSprite!

Ian has issued an art challenge! We all know and love the derpy chorus to Kathleen’s favourite cat-eared dance. But we have no real lyrics for the verses in between the chorus! So send us your lyrics to Derpelldansen to [email protected], for a chance to win the sweet, sweet Desert Bus goodies pack from Cakes Cove. Yummmm.
You have until 4am. GO!
Derp. Derp derp derp derp.
We totally have some auctions, and they’re AMAZING, so you should check them out!

We stood and watched the numbers climb up and up and up, and then…it happened.
We are….floored. We are overwhelmed. This is wonderful and…happy doesn’t even begin to describe how it feels to reach $1.5 million lifetime donations for the children. We couldn’t have done it without you.
BigGiantCircles made an OUTSTANDING remix of the LRR theme called Desert Busception. Go buy it here, and remember that all proceeds go to DB007. And stick around because we’re launching into a Zeta shift to remember.
But reaching $1.5 million…what else is there to say? I think the photo speaks enough.
Heather Dery, AKA LunarJade, is the wonderful wife of our very own Beej and a HIGHLY skilled crafter. How skilled? The entire team is drooling over this giveaway lot: a Kuribo’s Show crocheted blanket and a gorgeous quilted Goomba pillow.
Donate in increments of $19.88 until 12:30 for your chance to win this prize; Heather’s blankets, in the past, have auctioned for over $4000!! The team is trying to get in on this too, so donate away!
We haven’t so much sweetened the pig as smothered it in sugar and then smothered it some more and there’s just a room full of sugar with a tiny pig inside.
Donate increments of $9.80 to get…ohmygod.
Murder in Baldur’s Gate Pack 5
Majora’s Mask Stamps
A Desert Bus logo made of Perler Beads
Ladies of Ragnarok bookmark
D20 Dice Pouch
Molly Lewis album
Imposter Nostalgia album
The giveaway runs until 11 and it is pushing us steadily towards our goal of that sweet, sweet $1.5 Million mark! GO GO GO!
