We had so many lovely submissions from our poets in the chat. It was tough to create a shortlist much less pick a winner. Alas through all of our combined poetry knowledge we have decided on a winner of a Desert Bus 10 T-Shirt!

Congratulations to chat user Akaiatana with their wonderful Haiku!

Well that didn’t take long! James has inaugurated our first

DBX
DONATION DRIVE!

In the spirt of getting this up as quick as possible, donate $5.27 — or a multiple thereof — before 11:09am Pacific Time to be entered to win our sensational Portal Prize pack!

Now that the post is up: you might be asking what the heck is a Donation Drive? Happy to explain!

We have lots of prizes to give away here, and we want to make sure that everyone gets a chance to win! Every now and then, we open up a DONATION DRIVE to do that. We specify a donation amount and a deadline (for this one, $5.27 and ending about 11:09am Pacific Time). Until that deadline, anyone who donates $5.27 gets an entry into our random draw for the prize! Easy!

Oh, one more thing: you can always donate MULTIPLES of the donation amount for MULTIPLE chances to win!! So for this drive, a donation of $5.27 gets you one entry. $10.54 (which is $5.27 x 2) gets you two entries. $105.40 gets you TWENTY entries! Get it? Good! Get out there and donate!

WELCOME TO

DESERT BUS

X

giphy

It marks the spot; it’s the MVP of the alphabet when it comes to algebra; it’s an Ed Sheeran album? And most importantly it’s in the title of the this year’s event! What are we talking about? Why X of course!

The atmosphere here at Lunar Module Mark 3 is electric as we prepare for our TENTH instalment of DESERT BUS FOR HOPE. As if the whole enterprise wasn’t insane enough, this year we roll over into DOUBLE DIGITS as we hurtle through a virtual Sonoran Desert in a busted virtual charter bus… FOR THE CHILDREN!

Mike here, proud as a peacock that I get to blog you through the first shift of DBX! I and the rest of the blog team will be updating this space LIVE and in real time as we undertake this week of loving insanity! We will be doing our best to keep you up to date with any ongoing events, contests, auctions, special guests, and anything else you’ll need to know!

So on behalf of the whole DBX #squad, welcome aboard! We look forward to having you along for the ride!

A pin will also be included in each and every Desert Bus 10 prize, whether silent auction, live auction, or giveaway.

Video Game Trivia

IQ2000 is putting together another round of trivia for DBX and he’d like your submissions. If you have a super interesting piece of video game trivia, now is your time to shine!

Email your question, answer, and screen name to [email protected] with the subject line “DBX Trivia” by midnight November 8th. One submission per person, please.

Wondering what makes a good trivia question? Here are some handy guidelines:

  • We’re NOT looking for the hardest question you can think of. Aim for something in the “medium” difficulty range. The last thing we want is a battery of impossible questions and no one knowing any of the answers!
  • A great question makes people go “Ohhhhhh, of course!” when they hear the answer. It should be something they will have heard of!
  • The best questions will make players say “Wow, that’s really interesting” whether or not they knew the answer.
  • Try to build in as many clues as possible in the question. Even if someone doesn’t know the answer outright straight away, they should be able to at least make a decent guess based on what you’ve given them!
  • Try to keep it short to medium length. Aim for 300 characters or less, please.

Here are the questions from the DB8 trivia round:
