2016-05-10 UPDATE: Check out our teaser trailer!

Original Post:
With our 10th anniversary(!) approaching, it’s as good a time as any to reflect on where we’ve come from, how we got to this strange and wonderful place, and what actually goes into making this unique community fundraiser we call Desert Bus for Hope.

We want to make a documentary.

But we need your help.

Bionic Trousers Media, the company behind LoadingReadyRun, has agreed to fund the first $30,000 CAD, but the remaining $92,000 CAD of the production costs we are asking through a Kickstarter campaign that we launched today.

If you’d be interested in seeing a Desert Bus for Hope documentary, take a moment to look over the project. If it funds, we’ll make the documentary. If not, the people have spoken. =)

  1. Awesome idea to get a documentary about DBFH as a whole along with the planning and completion of DBX – it’s already quite evident from the kickstarter that I’m not the only one interested in it.

Assuming a late-November DBX, and taking post-production into account, would it be entirely out of the realm for the documentary to premiere in Winter, 2016-2017?

Also, am I miscomprehending something, or are you 3k CAD short between the 30k CAD self-funding + 92k CAD crowd-funding vs the 125k CAD budget?

  2. D. Ebdrup – We’re very excited that the project has now funded! We’re not sure about release dates yet, but given that shooting won’t finish until December, a winter release would probably be pushing it. While we’re anxious to see the documentary completed, we really want to give Flying Saucer Media the time they need to produce the very best product. We’ll let you know as soon as we have a date.

As for the cost breakdown, LoadingReadyRun is contributing $30,000 USD to the budget of $96,164.92 USD. The remainder ($66,164.92 USD) converted to CAD (~$92,000 CAD) is what we are asking for in the Kickstarter.

  3. Ah – that makes sense. Yeah, I just noticed that there’ll be shooting at the Seattle dinner in December, so that does push everything a bit more. Though really, I think it’s cool that you’re getting that included in the documentary as well.

my question very quickly became irrelavant since you’ve already passed the goal, but that explanation makes it all make sense. Thanks :)

    Definitely looking forward to it.
