ci_bill_corbettBill Corbett will be calling into Desert Bus at 11am PST on Wednesday, November 19th.

Bill is an American writer and performer known for his work as the voice and puppeteer of Crow T. Robot (v.2.0) on the cult television show Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K). He also played an omnipotent dim witted alien, The Observer (also known as “Brain Guy”) along with other minor roles on MST3K.

As a playwright and screenwriter his body of work includes the screenplay, Starship Dave (released as the Eddie Murphy comedy Meet Dave), and the plays The Big Slam, Hate Mail, The Stuff of Dreams, and Super-Powered-Revenge-Christmas #1. He is also a contributing writer to NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion and All Things Considered.

Bill reunited with his MST3K teammates Mike Nelson and Kevin Murphy to create Rifftrax, which creates MST3K style riff audio commentaries for movies of all sorts from blockbuster hits to B-movies to educational short films.

  2. For live-shows, we’ve been seeing an uptick in bigger name movies. Anaconda, Starship Troopers, Godzilla, etc. Do you plan on keep moving towards these bigger movies, or will there be more… ‘bad’ movies like your upcoming “classic” of the Santa Claus live show?

As well, what would the favorite live show you’ve done be for Rifftrax?

  7. For Rifftrax, the first Twilight track seems to be held as the gold standard by fans. Agree, or do you have a personal favourite?

  9. When you were writing on MST3k (and this is relevant to a lesser degree with Rifftrax as well), was it harder to write the riffs for the movie or the skits/host segments?

  12. Dear Dr. Corbett,
Why doesn’t Rifftrax release more Riffed major movies? I am not hugely interested in B movies or shorts but would like to seem more major movies Riffed.
