What is Desert Bus for Hope? We are a charity fundraiser for Child’s Play. We raise money by playing the world’s worst video game, Desert Bus, in exchange for donations. The more money raised, the longer we play. That said, it would be pretty boring just to watch a bunch of people play the world’s worst video game. That’s why we have contests, live auctions, silent auctions, incredible prizes and a complete lack of self respect. We’ll also be accepting challenges to do all manner of silly things (Songs, Dances, Poems, Readings, etc) in exchange for donations.

If you want more information, please look over our FAQ, or ping us on twitter or Facebook.

  2. Waited all year for this.

Last year I woke up to Morgan (I think) punching himself in the face. I expect nothing less this year!

    Go go Desert Bus!

  3. Will Bill the Terrorist be allowed to bus without supervision? And will the Octopimp himself be making any live appearances? Can’t wait!

  4. You should contact the BBC and see if you can get a story written about it, I’m sure that would drum up alot more donations!

  5. I suggested they read the entire Twilight series, out loud, storytime style. I’m curious what their response will be.

  8. Just played the free pie on Dessert Bus. Graham, you shouldn’t have put your face as the first to show up. =P

  9. Wow, I remember reading about you guys a few years ago, this is gonna be my first time watching! 😀

I wish I had some money to donate, tough :\

  10. Raul, if you can’t donate you can still help spread the word about Desert Bus! The crew can always use your emotional support, too…24 hours is a long drive, after all.

  11. I’m sooooo excited!! I remember someone said before Year 2 “Last year was the most fun I’ve ever had on the internet.” I find that’s true for me every year. I actually save money to donate to this.

Anyway, I noticed we’re over 5K before this thing has even started, so do we get the special Kathleen surprise? And can we get the Twilight reading, storyteller style? How about the news team giving us live play by play? Can the news desk fund a traffic copter? I’ll donate more if someone tapes a paper doll helicopter to the screen and makes propeller noises with their mouth!

    By Kenny Cather - November 19th, 2010 12:18 pm
  12. Well then, Chemistring, you guys are gonna have a supporter from Brazil (me), isn’t this awesome? 😛

    By Raul - November 19th, 2010 12:59 pm
  13. Have you guys ever considered asking Penn and Teller to publicize this on their website in the News section?

    http://www.pennandteller.com/

At worst, they’d say “No”. At best, that could bring a LOT of traffic (and hopefully a lot of donations) here.

  17. Last yeah, I changed my gamertag, this year I plan to stay up and game on Xbox Live, tag ComeRideTheBus. I’ll be playing most CoD: Black Ops and Fable 3 if anyone would care to join me. I’ve set it up this year so that for every 2 hours I game, I earn $5 in donations towards Child’s Play.

So I’ve stocked the fridge with energy drinks and as soon as they go live, will start playing.

  18. Awesome, I look forward to watching the LRR crew abuse themselves for charity/our collective amusement. Unfortunately I’m watching Harry Potter tonight at 6, so I won’t be able to catch the beginning.

Still, I look forward to checking it out later.

    By Dazdya - November 20th, 2010 6:00 am
  22. You people are amazing. You are giving money to charity, and not seeming to mind the “Desert Bus” aspect. I love you

  23. Hey, when you guys get to my poster, may I suppose a thousand dollar limit break of all the crew members in the poster signing the poster?

  28. I wake up 12 someodd hours later and get on and find Morgan looking practically dead. James should be proud 😛 (But come on Morgan, I’m pulling for you!)

  29. Those portraits are worth around a hundred or so per head! I’m an artist who has drawn similar and I know how long it takes with that level of detail. I’d value the lot of them around 1K.

  30. Wow, I can’t believe people are playing this game 15 years after it was made and never released. I worked on the game for Absolute Entertainment. Brings back some great memories.

  32. Let me just say, along with Wil Wheaton, I’m really proud of you guys for what you’re doing, it’s amazing and you guys are outstanding for doing Desert Bus year after year.

Loading Ready Run and all who have helped run Desert Bus, you are a great group of people and I wish nothing but the best for you in your futures. What you do each year really touches my heart (which is saying something for a soulless ginger).

Now excuse me, I think I have something in my eye. *Sniff*

  33. Absolutely amazing event. I’m so glad it was such a success. You guys put in a ton of work and put on a great show.

I hope there are many more Desert Bus for Hopes to come!

  34. The magnificence of their finale was so awesome it crashed my browser when they signed off.

Dear Drs. LRR, you are all truly magnificent human beings, thank you for your talent, your comedy, your dedication and your love. The world truly is a better place with you around.

    By Jason - November 25th, 2010 3:11 pm
  35. Congrats on a fantastic week, LRR! You all put in so much work and efford and it really showed. Let’s shoot for 250k next year! :3

  36. What’s up with all the remaining giveaways? I was hoping to get a chance at that toque. I can’t ever find normal hats that fit, nor a toque that’s actually cool.
    Any info?

  37. Awww, I hate I missed the end. Stupid router :(. But still, I stayed up for 28 hours on saturday watching ya’ll, so I got to see alot of Desert Bus :D. It was alot of fun, good to see Morgan and Bill again, hope they can make it into more hustles.

Ya’ll have really done a GREAT service for the children, and I hope that you can always do this, even when you’re like 90 and parts of you are plastic or metal. Thank you so much, and since I didn’t get to donate here, maybe I can donate some other time to Child’s Play :). Really awesome job! I love Loading Ready Run, can’t wait to see what ya’ll pull off in the coming new year!
