With minds completely boggled by your generosity, we have all gone home to sleep and try to recover from the utter awesomeness of the past several days. We’re so very grateful to all our sponsors, donators, viewers and everyone who helped out by calling in, bringing food (and caffeine), stopping by to visit and generally making Desert Bus the huge success it has been.

This was a triumph.

We am very very appoint.

We love you all, and we look forward to continuing to hear from you via twitter, the loadingreadyrun.com and Escapist Magazine forums, and right here at desertbus.org. Please check back over the next week or two as we continue to post all the amazing art, music and videos from the last week. And remember that you can send feedback about this year’s Desert Bus to [email protected].

Here are some links if you would like to go back and browse through the mountains of fan art and other submissions, milestone pictures, and various other things that were posted about on this blog over the course of the event. There’s more coming, too! We hope to do some organizing over the next few days, making it a bit easier to sort through all this great material.

Thank you, and good-night.

  2. Woooo! Great Job LRR and hooray for everyone who helped raise over $132,000 for children’s hospitals!

    Is the goal for DB4 $200,000? 😀

  3. Yeah, I’m definitely hoping to see (and download) the acid damage remixes, Dale’s version of Chocolate Rain, and would like to at least watch all the musical challenges you went through. Great stuff, all of it. Congratulations you guys! You almost hit DOUBLE what you did lat year!

  4. great job guys! I was hoping for over $100,000 but I didn’t think it’d go as far as it did!

  5. This was my first DB, and I was with you most of the way. It was a great ride guys; good work at the moonbase and way to take one for the children! :)

  7. Double this year’s total + all three years combined, for next year?? 😀 Mayhaps it could be done?

What? It’d only be $490,000… easy.

  8. Awesome year guys and gals. Hopefully next year I’ll actually have a job, and I can donate some. Thanks for all the memories.

You (and all the those who donated) will help make many a sick children’s time a bit easier this year.

  9. I missed out last year not knowing when it was. But I am glad I could watch most of it this year (hurray for unemployment). But hopefully next year I can have a job so I can donate or buy you guys a meal during the next desert bus. Because I was highly amused for almost the entire time while I watched you guys. And stopped alot of my activities just to watch you guys. So keep up the great work and I hope you guys have another excellent desert bus record setting run next year.

  10. Well the total raised this year is over double what was raised last year after you count in the big checks that we sent in but take a long time to clear and be put up. The rumor in the chatz is that those will send it to ~142K and that that is why they bused for 136 hours instead of 134.

BTW you guys need to take down the “To Next Hour” counter and probably kill Chipin. Obviously people can just donate to Child’s Play’s Paypal account whenever.

  11. I think we’d all better get in some training for next year…

And get ready to send Matt to Eclipse this time :)

  12. You guys should just hibernate between Desert Bus events. Well, you did it. Congrats on a great third year! How will the fourth year top this?

  13. You guys did a bang-up job there! And it was so much fun to just watch and read the chat :)

Right now I’m experiencing a massive burst of energy due to lack of sleep and overdose of caffein from the last few days. 😀 Oh and I can’t stop listening to “Don’t Stop me Now!”

Next year will be awesome, I bet!

  15. Awesome job guys, and thank you for putting on such a great event. I found myself getting home from work yesterday not knowing what to do with myself because I didn’t have Desert Bus to turn on.

Congrats on what will likely be double last years total once the E-cheques have cleared! I’ll be keeping an eye on you guys next year on Desert Bus, maybe even take some time off to witness the whole event.

Have fun on New Moon day Matt though who knows how much psychological damage it may cause.

I heart you LRR and can’t wait to see what the pairing with The Escapist brings us all.

  16. This was my first Desert Bus marathon (only heard about it this year), and it was exciting and fun to watch.

Great work, everyone involved at LRR, you did a fantastic job. I watched as often as I could, and there was always something entertaining going on.

Can’t wait for Desert Bus 4!

  17. It was a great event and thank you for doing it!

I will admit nights will be quiter now without all your crazy antics! I look forward to all the content been released onto the site!!!

    You all take care now!

  18. There needs to be Desert Bus 4. The world would be a cold and dark place without another DBFH. You guys indeed rock.

So long, and thanks for all the funnies!

  19. That was amazing. I had heard about it from a friend but actually didn’t end up checking it out until I saw a video on youtube that was done to Get Down. Then I was curious.
I had classes to go to but I was glad I was able to catch the few hours at the end.
I would have liked to have donated more. Lacking an income and having not much time because of college kind of sucks for that.

I was glad I was able to at least add to the tweeting and post up in all the internet hang out spots that this was going on and hopefully contributed to getting more people on here to check it out.

  20. Did you guys found out from Kristen yet how much was actually raised during that 28 minutes of Chipin being down?

  22. AWESOME!!! First time. Tuned it at 4 pm of the last day. INSPIRING!! Couldn’t keep my eyes off it.

Good clean, humorous fun. So grassroots and sooo inspirational on a multitude of levels.

Thanks for all the time, creativity and energy put into this event. I can hardly wait til next year.

  24. The children in hospitals aren’t going to have to play Desert Bus, are they?

    By J - November 27th, 2009 3:25 pm
  25. That’s an incredible achievement. Congratulations all.

  26. I wonder if ENN is going to have a report on internet charities and how they are destroying the sanity of average everyday people.

  28. Dear Doctors LRR,

I would have never imagined Desert Bus 3 being so much more amazingly successful than last year. To say that my mind is blown is a severe understatement, and yet I am still proud to be such a small part of this amazingly big event. Thank you for another year of greatness, both for the internet and the children, and I look forward to Desert Bus 4: Bus Free or Crash Hard.

For now, may you have a wonderful year of funny videos!

    Best of regards,

    Emmy

  30. […] Desert Bus for Hope is an initiative paired with Child’s Play, a charity that donates toys and games to children’s hospitals, that has raised over $225,000 in it’s three annual runs combined. The participating members take shifts driving the Desert Bus non-stop until people stop donating, with the most recent run lasting the longest at 5 days and 16 hours and raising more money than both previous years combined. The diligent bus drivers posted after it was all over that they “am very very appoint”. […]
