Attention all passengers, we welcome you aboard today’s Alpha Flight, travelling to Las Vegas, Nevada, then returning to Tucson, Arizona. Please make sure your pine tree air freshener is properly secured to the rear view mirror, the door handle is in the locked position until we reach the next bus stop, and that your coffee is on standby for what is sure to be a long, long trip.

Once we have departed for our destination, we will be delighted to bring you the following highlights from today’s Alpha Flight shift for your entertainment….

Jenn & Trin, from the Friendshipping podcast, called in to say hello.

We play AMC’s upcoming game, Airplane Mode. It’s bound to go much faster than a bus… right…?

We have Feels Time with Andrew and Tabby.

Jacob reads a simple poem for the crowd.

A mischievous goose wrecks havoc across the Lunar Module.

We found the Full Song Random Dance Party!

And, finally, Ben tells us a horse joke (part 1). (And here’s part 2.)

Remember, for the latest updates, stay tuned to desertbus.org. You can also catch up on the latest #DB2019 happenings around the web…

The poster, in progress.

The poster, in progress.

As is tradition, M. Lee Lunsford, long time friend of Desert Bus for Hope, is illustrating this year’s poster live as we bus along here at the Lunar Module. It’s filled with their interpretation of many of the most memorable moments at this year’s event. If you’ve missed a poster update, you can find the latest iterations of the poster at the VST’s website.

And, if you’d like a copy of the poster for your wall, you can buy your poster during the event at store.desertbus.org. As with every year, proceeds from the poster are split among Child’s Play Charity, M. Lunsford, and LoadingReadyRun (to help offset administrative costs).

BOB ROSS CANVAS LABELS_18x24We here at Desert Bus for Hope would like to thank one of our prize sponsors of this year’s event: Bob Ross Inc.

Bob Ross is the soft spoken guy painting happy clouds, mountains and trees in about twenty-six television minutes, using big housepainting-type brushes and soothing “you can do its” to the audience. His Joy of Painting program is the most recognized, most watched TV art show in history.

We thank Bob Ross Inc. for their support of this year’s Desert Bus for Hope!

Red Hook Studios is an independent game development studio founded in 2013. The company was established based upon a shared love of making unforgettable and original games that are beautiful to look at and mechanically solid to play. Darkest Dungeon, a challenging gothic RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring, is the company’s first project.

Thank you Red Hook Studios for support this year’s Desert Bus for Hope!

088_001_DB2018PhotoBook

All right… here we go! Kolin is in the house and we’re kicking off our traditional giveaway for one of the only four Desert Bus 2018 Hardcover Photo Books in existence.

When it comes to commemorating and remembering Desert Bus for Hope 2018, there is nothing like the Hardcover photobook. Except, maybe the softcover, but this cover is hard. So hard, it makes cardboard look like tissue paper. So hard, it can handle being flipped through for hours on end with extreme grace and gentleness. However, the cover isn’t the best feature of this book. It’s all about what’s inside that matters.

Relive the Desert Bus moments from 2018 you love: dance parties, shift changes, hitting $5,000,000 lifetime, dance parties, the unsolvable Lego set, dobbing, QWERPLINE, did we mention dance parties? There are also a few photos of puppers in there somewhere.

There are only four of these hardcover books, each signed by as many Desert Bus volunteers as possible. The first two are available through Auction and Giveaway, the others are kept as Kolin and Andrew’s personal treasures.

Donate $7.30 (or multiples thereof) for a chance to win this prize. We’ll run this donation drive until 4:45pm PST.

You probably know Child’s Play Charity as the awesome organization we’re raising funds for here at Desert Bus for Hope. You also probably know all the great things they do! Over the years, you as a community have answered the call and come together to raise millions of dollars.

Thank you Child’s Play Charity for all the great work that you do, and for being a supporter of Desert Bus for Hope!
