It’s almost time for our FIRST Live Auction of Desert Bus for Hope 2021. And oooh boy do we’ve got a super crafty lot up for grabs with this Sandman Cross Stitch, crafted by longtime Craft-Along crafter Sarah Serinde. We’re running this auction starting at 3:00pm PST today!

Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series is full of engrossing stories and beautiful art, and The Sandman: Overture is no different. Based on the book’s gorgeous artwork by J.H. Williams III and Dave Stewart, this cross stitch features Morpheus soaring towards home against the colourful background of the Dreaming. It took roughly 350 hours to stitch over the course of four months, and uses 111 colours of thread. The hand-dyed fabric has an opalescent shimmer to it, and there are hints of sparkle in Dream’s robes. The piece measures 10.25 by 14.25 inches, and is framed in masterwork acrylic, which is lightweight, shatterproof, and protected from UV rays.

It’s been a while since we’ve done a Live Auction, so let’s cover how to participate…

  • First, make sure you’ve created a Donor Account. You’ll need it to bid on live auctions and we’ll need to know how to get in touch with you if you win.
  • Next, you’ll need to link your Donor Account with your Twitch account. You can do this from your Donor Account on desertbus.org. (If you’re logged in, click the Donor Account link in the top right of the page.)
  • Live Auctions are run in Twitch chat. To bid, type !bid <amount> <message>. No fake bidding, please!
  • Keep in mind that the stream is on a slight delay from what’s happening live. Be sure to follow BidBot in chat for the latest auction status, not the stream!
