A slightly late addition to our call-in roster, Neil Gaiman is an award winning author, screenwriter, and graphic novelist that needs little introduction. Behind such work as Sandman, Good Omens, American Gods, Coraline, Stardust, and much, much more, Neil’s work is a staple among any geek’s library.  More recently, Mr. Gaiman wrote the Doctor Who episode ‘The Doctor’s Wife, which aired earlier this year.Throughout his career, Neil has been nominated for, or the recipient of, more writing awards than it’s reasonable for me to list, though they include the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, The Eisner Award, and the Newbery Medal, among others.

Mr. Gaiman will be calling at at 10:00AM, so please submit your questions in the comments below, and tune in at 10!

I regards to the the Doctor Who episode ‘The Doctor’s Wife‘, what made you want to examine that relationship in the show and what led you to explore the TARDIS as you did?

  12. Might be an odd question.

I know you an Alan Moore were relatively close, I wanted to know, do you guys keep in
touch? Also, if you have any thoughts on Alan right now. Seeing as he has seemingly isolated himself (justifiably) from the mainstream comic industry. Don’t feel I am asking you to talk bad about an old friend.

Also, will you sell any more of your old shirts in the foreseeable future?

  20. Dear Dr. Neil:

What were your experiences of working with 2000AD?

Does having Simon le Bon’s approval mitigate your feelings regarding that Duran Duran biography?

Which individual Sandman story were you most satisfied with? Which arc?
Which artist did you most enjoy working with?

Have you ever considered doing further work (a run with some arcs, say) with Hellblazer?

How did you come to write for Babylon 5? What were your experiences of working within a network TV context?

What were your experiences of translating Princess Mononoke into English?

    Thanks for your time, Neil.

  29. Dear Mr. Gaiman,

You and Amanda have a huge following on twitter and seem to enjoy connecting with your fans in that way. Do you think that artists have a lot to gain from such a relationship with their fans, or is it more intrusive than you’d like?

Also, on a slightly fangirl-ish note, I have a large job interview with a beloved rare book company this afternoon. Hearing a “good luck” from you would make my day, if you care to do so!

    Thank you!

  43. Dear Dr. Gaiman shadowy owner of the Necronomicon,

Many writers have writing rituals that they perform every time they write. I require a cup of tea. Do you have any interesting or bizarre ones you are willing to share?

Also in one of your collections you mentioned the possibility of a sequel to Neverwhere. Is that in the works or was it a joke?

    By LimeJester - November 21st, 2011 9:54 am
  44. Dear Dr. Neil Gaiman,

The Doctor’s Wife was a FABULOUS ride, and it’s got me craving more of your written work on the small screen. Are there any other series you’d like to write for out there?

Also, if Good Omens were ever to get adapted into a movie or TV show, who do you think you’d cast as the major characters?

Thank you so much for helping Desert Bus!

    Sincerely,

Your book, “American Gods” was a suprisingly great read considering it was issued to us during a college course. I have to ask, where did the concept of including old gods from so many religions, and the new gods of technology come from?

    Thank ya!

  60. How’s the rock-n-cabaret lifestyle? I greatly enjoyed the picture of your lounging backstage with Amanda Palmer, shiny boots a’glinting.

Aside from your status as a writer with huge cult following, has touring brought an new edge of cool to the writer in you? You might be an exception, considering your wide appeal (we just watched a very yellow version of you on The Book Job this morning) – but for the most part writers have a reputation for cerebral, solitary lives – or the lives of geeky introverts if we’ve talking about comics.

How nice to see they can be rock stars as well.
