Last year, we were approached by a gentleman named Michael Lunsford, who offered to make a poster chronicling that year’s Desert Bus, to be put up for auction near the conclusion of the event. While we normally don’t accept late donations of art and such for the craft-a-long, we made an exception for Mike based on the incredible quality of the draft he submitted.

The final product was well worth a little rules bending.

This year, Mike’s been hard at work again, producing a poster based on this year’s events. You may have seen us ooing and ahing over the drafts as he’s emailed them to us, and he’s now produced a near-final version, which should very closely resemble the final product. We’ll be auctioning the finished poster near the end of the event, so stay tuned!

For more of Michael Lunsford’s work, also check out his webcomic, Supernormal Step.

  19. That’s really cool. The fact that I can pick out most of the jokes means that I haven’t gotten enough sleep or done enough school work this week. Totally worth it though. :thumbs up:

  20. Why couldn’t you sell (smaller) prints of the poster to anyone who was in attendance at Desert Bus 4?

I could hang it in my house! People would ask and I’d be able to tell them all about Desert Bus and Childs Play and it’d be advertising I paid for in my own house to help get more donations for the children! More viewers next year = more donations next year!

  23. I would also pay an amount of money for a print of this. Please, Mr. Lunsford?

    By Trisha Lynn - November 24th, 2010 6:14 am
  24. That is absolutely AMAZING. I bet it’s gonna for at least 1k, AT LEAST. I wish I had copious amounts of money that I could bid on it… :(

By Sarah (unfortunately NOT that Sarah) - November 24th, 2010 6:51 am
  25. That poster is beyond awesome.

I reckon even if you sold smaller prints, did it as a 2nd run modified design or priced it at $10-$20, everyone who’s paid any attention to Desert Bus would buy one (making a ton of extra cash for the children). This auction is going to go mental, and I know for a fact I won’t be able to afford it.

Seriously guys, do it. This poster is the most amazing design, and even though I don’t have any posters hung in my house I would most definitely put this on display for all to see. Think about it: 1 poster gets $2k at auction, 1000 posters gets $20k in sales (and we know you’ve had at least 1000 dedicated viewers these last few days).

  26. I agree with the idea of producing Desert Bus Posters each year at $10-$20 a piece. Just have the original print signed by the cast and artist. It’s the first print, it’s signed… that’s good for the auction. You’d probably get a fair amount of profit for Child’s Play after the cost of printing.

If you ever decide to print them I’m ready to buy one for myself, and one for my girlfriend right now.
