Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the official kickoff of Desert Bus 2010.
Over the past several months we have been hard at work to organize what we think will be the best Desert Bus yet, and we can’t wait for the event to get started! With only just over 4 weeks until we start up the bus for the 4th time we decided to start our countdown and open up donations. As is with tradition LoadingReadyRun has made the first contribution of $100.00 which takes us a healthy 30 hours into the event.
We have been receiving some great stuff for the craft-a-long this year and with only 10 days until our cutoff date, if you still have something you’ve made and have yet to send it out, now is the time. Along with the stuff you have been making we should be receiving some really cool stuff from various companies that wish to show their support, which means a lot of cool auctions and prizes for you guys!!
And there is one last thing. As many (if not all) of you know in the past we have had 4 drivers working 4 hour shifts, this is no longer the case. After some discussions we decided to change things up. So this year instead of 4 drivers there will be 5 (James, Jeremy, Morgan, Bill, Kathleen) and instead of 4 hour shifts there will be one 24 hour shift. Yup, you read that right, each of us will take one 24 hour shift, and if by some chance we get all the way to Thursday evening @ 6:00PM (we have never made it that far in the past) then James will jump back in the driver seat.
This year should be the best year yet and we can’t wait to get started. We hope you guys feel the same!

24 hours?!! I actually doubt Bill will be the first to crash on that schedule…
Remember kids: Don’t drive a real car for 24 hours straight cause drowsy driving is just as bad as drunk driving.
One 24 hour shift? That’s boring! You should do two consecutive 12 hour shifts.
I disagree with the above post. Seeing each driver at the end of 24-hour shift will be awesome. You’ll almost be able to taste their agony.

Getting to Thursday evening implies 6 lots of 24 hour shifts will need to be completed, not 5. By my calculations, James would need to be back in the drivers chair at 6pm on Wednesday.
As the first poster said, great to see five drivers. Not so great to see 24-hour shifts. I think that sort of situation will just lead to boredom for all, but I could be wrong. Oh, and you will, as someone else mentioned, need good bladder control.
This should prove….interesting, if nothing else.
I would think that they’d be allowed to leave briefly to use the bathroom and whatnot. Otherwise, it would just be cruel.
24-hour shifts? The agony will be especially delicious this year, it seems.
But….if Kathleen is in the driver’s seat for 24 hours that means we have to go 24 hours without Kathleen dancing? How shall we survive!?
24 hour shifts is *insane*! That means more comedy for us! YAY! I can’t wait!

Well, we could always have Morgan dance. It’s different, I know, but interesting none the less.
I think the point of switch to 24 hours shifts is that it will be easier to people’s schedules. Instead of having to commit to being to driving the bus every 16 hours, you can take 1 day off work to do this and then go back to work. I know these guys are busy, while it sounds like they switch their schedule so that they have more time during this week to hang out, I’d rather do 24 hours of torture then spread it out over a week…
