Art Challenge: Dawn Good News!
November 16, 2025 at 06:26 AM PST
Posted by Soraya

Wake up, shake away your blues,
Tune in for some Dawn Good news!
Tell us something to amuse:
We could use some Dawn Good news!

The checkered gray-and-white background of a transparent png file scrolls repeatedly past the screen. In the top left corner is the icon for a broken image: a ripped page with several colorful shapes drawn on in super low resolution.
Our Dawn Good News intro is missing something... what could it be...

We've got a recurring bit, we've got a catchy jingle - now all we need is a logo that really ties the news together like The Dude's rug. (That's still a relevant reference, right?)

So please, whip out those art skills and design us a logo for Dawn Good News. (Transparent backgrounds are appreciated but not required!) JPGs, GIFs, and PNGs are all good but no AI art!

When sending a submission, please include your name (with pronuciation guide) and pronouns so we can celebrate you! Title your email Dawn Good News Logo and send it to: contest@desertbus.org

The winner will receive a Mystery Box full of surprising goodies randomly selected from previous years' merch. The best way to find out what's inside is to win it!

We made it through another one! We're getting really good at this.

We showed off our fluency in corporate-speak!

We shared treasured childhood memories!

We let 'er rip!

We got philosophical!

We put stuff in our mouths!

We took a trip to the Bone Zone!

And, best of all, we committed a friendship!

Good night! We love you. See you in eighteen hours!

Hey, Desert Bus, let's get real for a minute.

We've started a recurring segment on Night Watch this year called "Let's Rap, Teens!" where we take questions about life from our younger viewers and offer gentle advice from adults who have been there. If you're a young adult or younger (kids, please ask a trusted adult for help!) and would like to ask for advice, you can send your question to us on any of our social media outlets or by email at contests@desertbus.org (subject line: "Let's Rap Teens Q"). We can't guarantee we'll get to your question, but we'll try to answer as many as we can.

For examples of the kinds of questions people have been asking, here's our "Let's Rap, Teens!" segment from Night 1:

We may be a bunch of chaotic goofs, but we're your chaotic goofs, and we're here for you!

When the last of our warriors stepped away from the Matt "Cat Enthusiast" Wiggins Memorial Stadium in 2024, many tried but few succeeded in quelling the primordial thrum of the blade that now governed the rhythm of their every breath.

One year has passed, and the call has only grown stronger.

HEE HOO BEYBLADE GO SPINNY

Split screen of Beyblade stadium with Jordynne vs Jordan (Brett as referee). Jordynne wins and gloats.

The Beys are back! We have a juicy roster packed with friends both seasoned and bland in the art of the Bey. With a rip and a burst, this year's tournament is officially underway.

A tournament bracket with logo "Night Watch Beyblade Rip-Off". Participants listed in post body.

Your champions:

  • Adzy (Wand Wizard // JunkRabbit)
  • Ben (Buster Dran)
  • Brett (Wizard Todd)
  • Dan (Wolf Antler)
  • Ian (Leon Claw // Yesterday's News)
  • Jesse "the hacker" Hacker (Wand Wizard)
  • Jordan (Sting Unicorn)
  • Jordynne (Sterling Wolf // Losing Dogs)
  • Logan (Wriggle Kraken)
  • Matt (Soar Phoenix)
  • Max (Keel Shark)
  • Peej (Steel Samurai)

Best of luck to all of our fierce competitors this year, and remember: if you love something, LET IT RIP!

They haven't shut us down yet, so here we are again! Tonight's Watch will be all the richer (and at least 20% handsomer) for the presence of our dear friend Jordan Hopkins, who almost certainly harbours no grudges or ill will toward us after last year.

Ian shoots an orb casing off of Jordan's desk with a giant PVC-pipe blowgun while Colin cowers behind them. Jordan unimpressed.

Come with us to a world of projectile locomotion, forbidden knowledge, sick beats, and questionable vibes. ¡Arriba!
