We are happy to once again welcome Fernwood Coffee Company as our official coffee sponsor of Desert Bus 10.
Year after year Fernwood has been a massive part of keeping our volunteers alert and active with their wonderful coffee. The award winning roasters and brewers at Fernwood can be found at their cafe, The Parsonage. In addition to their cafe, the award-winning coffee beans can be purchased online so you can enjoy Fernwood coffee in your own home.
Thank you Fernwood for your continued sponsorship of Desert Bus for Hope with your caffeinated superpowers and for keeping us chest deep in that cold brew that no can get enough of.
The results are in for Jer’s Desert Bus App sticker contest!
Lora R. was our winner for this especially saccharine porcine! Lora will be getting dangerous with the Darkwing Duck prize lot!
Congrats as well to the other finalists whose entries are below!
And all the submissions we received are below! Thanks to everyone for sharing your artistic genius!
Matt Wiggins & Tally Heilke
Driving: Sunday, Nov 13 10am – 10pm
Matt Wiggins
Driving since: 2012
Points: 3
Crashes: 7
Matt was enrolled early in an experimental super-human program meant to train participants to the limits of human endurance. He emerged as the prime physical specimen you see today: able to do barely one unassisted chin up, and a top 50% finisher in his age group at the annual Sun Run.
It’s Desert Bus’ 10th year:

His first memory of Desert Bus:
Paul and James talking about doing a charity fund raiser for Child’s Play, like, a year before we actually did one.

Tally Heilke
Driving since: 2012
Points: 2
Crashes: 5
She was a mild-mannered, all-Canadian girl… until the day she saw her family crushed in front of her by a crate of glitter tumbling from a speeding Michael’s truck. Through rainbow coloured tears she vowed to teach people to craft WITHOUT glitter, so such tragedy would never occur again.
It’s Desert Bus’ 10th year:

Her first memory of Desert Bus:
Me, to Jeremy, “Sorry, I don’t quite follow. You’re going to do /what/ exactly all weekend with your friends? Desert what? That game sounds terrible.”
Favourite DB gif:

We’re not even 24 hours into Desert Bus X and we’re already at the point where not only do I not know what day it is, but I’ve mostly forgotten how weeks work.
Those more grounded in reality tell us today is Sunday, aka NFL gameday! There are 13 games taking place today so, as is tradition, we’re attempting to predict the winners and margins of victory… however, we know nothing about football so we’re making our prognostications based solely on the team names!
- Chiefs v Panthers Panthers scratch out a 3-point win
- Broncos v Saints Saints march to victory by 6
- Rams v Jets Jets soar to a 20 point win
- Packers v Titans The only Ten-I-see is Titans winning by 10
- Falcons v Eagles Eagles win the battle of the birds of prey by 14
- Vikings v Washington Vikings maraud to a 9-point win
- Texans v Jaguars Texans win a close one by 1
- Bears v Buccaneers Bears maul Bucs by 14
- Dolphins v Chargers Dolphins flip an 8-point victory
- 49ers v Cardinals Niners by 9
- Cowboys v Steelers Stillers win a couch-burner by 4
- Seahawks v Patriots Seahawks see victory by 6
- Bengals v Giants Who dey think gonna beat dem Bengals? The Giants will, by 12
Looks like a solid set of picks to me! Now let’s get out there and gridiron!

Dawn rises on our second day of DBX, and as we of the Zeta Shift head to sleep, here’s a quick update to catch you up on what’s been happening overnight….
Jer’s shift started and, because keeping the bus on the road isn’t enough of a challenge, he’s playing other games from the driver seat, as voted on by the community. Every hour for the rest of Jer’s shift, we’re running donation drives to pick the next game. Check the blog for the latest donation drive.
We’re also still running a creative challenge, where we’re looking for your sticker submissions to add to the Desert Bus iOS app, up until just before Jer’s shift ends. Check out the blog post for more info.
We auctioned a Desert Bus Cat Cube, for $1250!
