A Sneak Peek: Lunar Module Mk. 3

We are pleased to announce that once again we have avoided cramming our sweaty, smelly human bodies and the ridiculousness that is the prize mines into a too-tiny-for-DB space (read: any of the Moonbases). That’s a backwards way of saying that we have a new venue for DBX, and we’re super excited about it!

The front door. We have an alcove to protect us from the Victoria rain. How posh is that?

With the assistance of Gail Reaney at Colliers International (thank you, Gail!) we were able to secure a super convenient space in downtown Victoria. We were only able to snap some quick pics on our tour, but we’re hoping you can see the potential.

It boasts plenty of space for our on camera shenanigans, kitchen facilities, ample storage for prizes and we have the entire floor to ourselves.

Check out the Lunar Module Mk.3!

Entrance landing

The Broadcast Space. That’s some quality brick work.

It may look a little too “normal” now, but we promise the space will be in full DB form once we’re done with it.

Prize Mines

The prize mines. The only time you will ever be able to see the walls.

This might actually be the most space our shippers have ever had to work. They won’t know what to do once they no longer have to crawl over each other to get to a prize. They will probably crawl over each other anyways. I think they find it fun. They don’t get a lot of social interaction. Or sunlight.

A kitchen. For sustenance.

A kitchen. For sustenance.

A break room. For breaks. Or woodworking. It’s yet to be decided.

  1. Step one, fabric or other soft surface to cover some of those walls. Step two… who cares this space looks amazing and so much room for activities!

  2. The whole floor just for us? I think we know what this means… FULL. VOLUME. AFRICA.

  3. Is it at least geographically south of last year’s module, so the name Desert Bus South can be used?

  5. …from the flooring and the mat and what little you can squint and make out of the left wall of the “broadcast space”, that just about has to be an EXTERNAL DOORWAY feeding right into the room. That is surely going to lead to predictable and unpredictable hijinks. Good god.

On a tangential note, I’ve been rewatching some of SGDQ in the last few weeks. Hunt down and kidnap their sound crew, please.

  6. The external doorway will not be in use during the event. Sorry, you’ll have to get your hijinks elsewhere :p

  7. I recognize that door, but for the life of me, I can’t place it. This is a frustrating sensation. 😛

  8. Looking sweet. Grand entrance. Cant wait for this year – tuning in from UK, I tend to miss the ‘big’ moments but I get to catch all the 3 a.m.-in-Canada weird sleepy stuff, which I find the most charming.
