Silent Auction: DataBus Quilt mk. 2
Winner: pao for $7,005.00
The DataBus returns with even more data to keep you warm and cozy! This queen-sized quilt (2.75 m x 2.1 m) features the fundraising data of DB1 (2007) through DB18 (2024). Each year is represented by a 13 x 13 piece block, with the individual pieces of the block spiraling out from the center of the block. Distance along the "spiral" represents run time in 1 hour increments and the colors of the pieces represent the total amount of money raised during the run. The two non-data blocks in the upper-left and lower-right corners are embroidered shift banners and a pixelated version of the Desert Bus for Hope logo, respectively. The backing features a figure caption explaining the data presentation. All fabrics are 100% cotton. Batting is bamboo rayon-cotton blend. Machine wash cold separate or with like colors. Recommend air dry or machine dry medium.

Larissa Osterbaan (ajillinabox) is a scientist and serial-crafter who finally picked up quilting 2 years ago after years of persistent encouragement from her grandmothers and mother-in-law. This is the second in her "DataBus Quilt" series. When she's not dreaming up ways to blend her loves of data and crafting, Larissa lives in Geneva, NY with her husband (ajackinabox) and cat who have managed to learn to live with the constant sound of a sewing machine.
