Desert Bus Drive Your Own Adventure Trilogy: Las Vegas or Bust – Tucson or Bust – There and Back Again, set 3
“It is early morning, you’re arriving for your shift at the main bus depot in Tucson, Arizona.” So begins the gripping tale of a bus’ 45 mph journey across the shimmering desert expanse between Tucson, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada.
The narrative invites the reader to experience in full and seemingly endless detail the adventure of Desert Bus, in over 1,000 glorious pages of sand-covered monotony. Get this 3 volume set and choose for yourself how the adventure will end. The books stand 10.25″ tall and 7″ wide, a proud and gleaming addition to any collector’s shelves. And just how does one create a trilogy like this?
-Play Desert Bus at hyperspeed to obtain screen shots required
-Create a flowchart for each book, to keep track of which pages link where.
-Save out all pages individually in photoshop changing the screen shots and text so the pages link together (Book 1 & 2 took 10+ each, Book 2 took 5-6 hours). In this part Elomin was checking four different programs at once to make sure there wasn’t a mistake (though one or two still snuck through).
- Have printed by Ka-Blam! Digital Printing
NOTE: Elomin Sha is sweetening this pig! If this lot auctions for over $1000, the winner will have input in Elomin Sha’s Desert Bus 6 project.

laser-cut acrylic Desert Bus MtG card holder – Magic All Up In This Bus!
The making of this item brought about not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR laser-induced fires… for the children, of course. And now this pyromaniac of a bus can be yours. Just to make the whole thing even more awesome, it’s been cut to perfectly fit Magic cards (or any kind of cards). We haven’t actually counted how many cards will fit into the holder, but we can confidently say that it will hold a busload.

Majora’s Mask laptop bag
Last year she gave us those remarkable Ramona Flowers starbags, this year crafter Toenolla gives us this incredible match up between applique, quilting and doing a jigsaw puzzle. As she describes it, “The front of the bag is a felt mosaic. Each piece was cut from felt or fleece, using the laser cutter at Dallas Makerspace, the hackerspace in Dallas, Texas. I edged and assembled around two hundred pieces by hand to construct the design.” LASERS, you guys. This bag was made with lasers. Toenolla also mentions that she’s been waiting quite some time to do something craftsy with the Majora’s Mask motif, one of her favourite pieces of game art.
As well as what you see on the outside, the bag contains the following interior pockets:
zippered laptop pocket (14″)
netbook, tablet, or ebook pocket (8″)
smartphone pocket
pen pocket.
Materials:
Front: Laser-cut felt and fleece.
Bag: Felt, fleece, cotton, heavyweight interfacing
70″ adjustable strap

glass Aperture Science coasters
We do what we must because we can, and what you can do is bid on this fabulous set of coasters, featuring the Aperture Science logo. They can be used for any and all beverages, but we particularly recommend them for tea… with cake.
The coasters are lovingly crafted by Helen Cowart, who enjoys making art glass that is both functional and beautiful. Her work incorporates precious metals, glass, enamels – whatever she can fire in a kiln.
These pieces are made with Bullseye glass and a dichroic metal coating that gives the glass a unique optical property. It was fired 2 times, the first time to a temperature of 1450 degrees F to fuse the glass pieces together and a second lower temperature firing (slumping) to soften the glass into the mold. See? Throwing things in a searing furnace only makes them stronger and more beautiful in the end. So what do you keep shooting us for?
Materials: fused glass and dichroic coating

Failed Mama apron
This eye-catching (and fully reversible!) apron features the “failed” Cooking Mama image, eyes flaming with rage in rather the same way that the chicken you forgot about dancing with fire. We don’t guarantee that this apron will help your cooking skills, but It IS certain to improve your food prep wardrobe. As long as you remember not to let it catch fire. Speaking of fire, this would be a good time to put out the flames on that chicken and call for pizza…

Atlas in Pieces – mosaic breakfast tray
Given that you’re watching Desert Bus and forcing us to keep playing this awful game, we know that you delight in the pain of others. Well when you eat off this stunningly detailed tray, you can joyously contemplate the anguished cries of the artist as she searched for just the right colour for the next mosaic piece, or while she peeled up a bit that didn’t look just riht and went searching through magazine after magazine for a better replacement. Yes, the tray was decorated using magazine ads and other coloured paper, cut up and applied piece by little piece! It is very very thoroughly coated in a protective finish for maximum durability. The tray is approximately 20 inches long, 13 inches wide and stands 9 inches tall. It has folding legs for easy storage when not in use. Materials: bamboo bed tray, acrylic paint, recycled paper and magazines, Mod-podge

LRR logo stained glass suncatcher
Remember sunlight? That stuff that shines down from the sky in a bright, yellowish kind of a way during certain hours of the day? That stuff you used to see before you became a hermit, glued to your computer screen watching us dance around like freaks to make money for kids? That stuff. Well, this item will be a beautiful reintroduction to sunlight once the bus has stopped. Featuring the LoadingReadyRun logo, it will catch that amazing sunlight and cast it around the room in beautiful blue fragments, possibly moving you to tears, though that may just be due to the sleep deprivation.
The crafter of this item has been doing Stained Glass since 2006, after taking at course at his university’s Craft Centre. This piece took approximately 40 hours to complete from design to in the box, and was handcrafted from start to finish. The design was taken straight from the LRR logo, with a “random” background based on Photoshop’s Stained Glass filter. The final design size is approximately 18.5” (47cm) and includes pre-installed hangers. Materials: Zinc Came, 60/40 Lead Solder, Copper Foil, Stained Glass, 16Ga Wire (for the hangers)

Space Sweet Space pillow (with glow-in-the-dark letters & numbers!)
We all want our children (or our nieces, our nephews, our wee cousins) to grow up big and strong, wise and clever and, above all, familiar the magic of classic video games. This pillow helps the little ones with their counting and their ABCs AND their understanding of Space Invaders. Or possibly it will help YOU with your counting and ABCs while reminding you of a favourite old game.
As an extra special feature, the alphabet and numbers are stitched using DMC glow in the dark thread. Once the lights are out, you’ll still be able to recite your ABC’s and 123’s!
The pattern used to make the cross-stitch is a one-of-a-kind designed by Carolyn. The High Score used is the total money raised by Desert Bus last year (info taken from the Desert Bus site) and the Score 1 is the date of this year’s event.
Materials: Black Cashel linen, DMC embroidery floss, black cotton fabric for back of cushion, poly-fil cushion insert.

Desert Bus Fleece throw
Is one week of Desert Bus a year just not enough? Do you wish you could stare endlessly at that straight, flat road, those empty rows of seats behind you, that mesmerizing pine air freshener? Now you can not only stare at it, you can wrap it around you.
This fleece blanket features the view from the Desert Bus driver cam, fully – even insanely – detailed. You will notice that the driver’s name has not been added; the winner of this item will get to choose a name (up to 8 characters only – gotta keep it realistic!), which Tally will then add to the blanket before it is sent to you. Because, y’know, her mom likes to give her an extra crafting task here and there to make sure she’s keeping busy.
Materials: polar fleece (100% polyester) and other “secret ingredients.” Blanket measures 5×5 feet.

Desert Bus 5 stained glass suncatcher
If a week of real live Desert Bus hasn’t bored you out of your mind enough, you can also hang this beautiful glass suncatcher in your window as a constant reminder of this week of seemingly everlasting tedium. Actually, the glass catches the light and splashes colour about very attractively – it’s far more interesting to watch than Desert Bus itself.
The crafter of this item has been doing Stained Glass since 2006, after taking at course at his university’s Craft Centre. This piece took approximately 40 hours to complete from design to in the box, and was handcrafted from start to finish. The design was taken straight from the DBH logo, only slightly modified to make the tree bigger and eliminate the text. The final design size is approximately 18.5” (47cm) and includes pre-installed hangers. Materials: Zinc Came, 60/40 Lead Solder, Copper Foil, Stained Glass, 16Ga Wire (for the hangers)

Steampunk Claw-hand Mk III
We really hate it when that beautiful Tardis cookie jar is juuuuuust out of reach on the highest shelf, don’t you? Give yourself that needed additional armspan and a whole lot of extra style and pizzaz by strapping on this extraordinary Steampunk claw-hand. Did we mention that it’s fully functional? As in, it mimics your own hand’s movements to open, close, grasp items, tap your buddy ever so gently on the shoulder to scare the bussing daylights out of him – all that sort of thing.
Holm informs us that virtually every last bit of the item was salvaged from something else. Bikes, shelves, kitchen blenders; it’s all been recycled.
This is the third in the series and Holm says it is by far his best piece yet.

Harry the giant Creepy Doll, with Creepy Doll puppet
He’s big, he’s bold and he loves to make Graham whimper. It’s Harry the giant Creepy Doll, made for and featured in the Commodor Hustle episode Santa Secrets.
He’s made from an upcycled terrycloth bathrobe and a white sweatshirt, filled with approximately two metric bus tonnes of polyfil and some scraps of old t-shirting from when the polyfil ran out. He is named Harry because of a slight visible flaw in the middle of his face which looks a bit like a jagged scar.
Harry comes with a little friend, a Creepy Doll hand puppet, which was the crafted item in Tally’s “How to join the Craft-Along” post back in May. Both come in super handy for freaking out your friends and roommates, and Harry makes a fantastic pillow. In fact, one of his favourite things is to sit behind you while you play video games, and wrap his arms lovingly around your shoulders…

Desert Bus Road Scarf Mk. II
Chelsea’s husband has this super annoying habit of wondering aloud whether such and such an item can be made… thus leading Chelsea to feel that she must prove that the specified item can indeed be made, and that she can make it. So when we say “super annoying habit,” we actually mean “super awesome habit,” since it has now led to two of these awesome, epic scarves depicting the road and the colours of Desert Bus.
Chelsea’s aching fingers promise that this will be the final such scarf, though, so this will be your last chance to own one! A good portion of this scarf was actually completed while Chelsea waited in line for panels at PAX Prime, including the LoadingReadyRun panel. Materials: acrylic yarn
