Linkback Recap

Posted by: Jer

We’ve had had a lot of coverage on various news site and blogs over the last day-and-a-half that I haven’t had time to recognize — I’ve been too busy staunching the bus-induced blood from my eyeballs.

Here’s a rundown:

  • Critical Gamer from the UK gave us a very nice writeup and spot on their site
  • Thanks to Alex and Dan Yost for giving us links on their respective blogs!
  • Icrontic’s article has a nice recap of the last two years, and some cgood content about this year, so thanks for that!
  • Shamus Young of The Escapist’s fantastic 20-Sided RPG column sent a good amount of traffic our way–I read it, you should too!
  • The Serious Business posted some very kind words about us, which is good, because Desert Bus is srs bsnss
  • Tweet Gazette–likely inspired by our “trendy” Friday has covered us as well … odd screenshot choice, but I’ll take it!

Thanks so much to everyone that’s covered us. If you know of an outlet that’s covered us who I haven’t mentioned, please send the link to to stuff@desertbus.org

5 Points!

Posted by: Jer

We have now achieved FIVE POINTS without crashing — 40 hours of safe driving!

Does this mean cheap insurance? Probably not — it does mean we’re eight hours closer to beating our own Desert Bus record.

Wanna try Desert Bus for yourself?

Posted by: Paul

All around awesome dude, RogerExplosion has made a java version of Desert Bus for you to play in your browser. Check it out at:

http://desertbus-game.org/
Windows users will probably need to grab the latest Java Runtime

Don’t blame us if it isn’t very fun. It isn’t supposed to be.

James:1; James’s Dignity: 0

After a marathon eight-hour driving shift, James has earned our first point: the first time anyone in DB history has done so by himself!

We’re on our way, folks!

The Next Iteration of Desert Bus?

Posted by: Jer

Somewhat unrelated, but this bizarre-possibly-gta-mod-looking game was just posted to Destructoid. Given that it pretty much encompasses what Desert Bus would look like today, I’m posting it for you.

Operation: Kill James is GO!

Posted by: Paul

Congrats, you cruel, cruel people. Thanks to your generosity, our own James Turner now has to play Desert Bus for 12 hours. This is more Desert Bus than I think anyone has ever played before in one sitting (possibly a lie?), and certainly enough to kill a man. You should all be proud.
